Still working on your New Year’s Eve plans and looking for something close to home? Luckily, Cambridge is up to the challenge. Check out these local New Year’s events at some of the city’s best spots.
Lamplighter Taproom Bash
Lamplighter’s New Year’s Eve party is, not surprisingly, the perfect option for beerlovers. There will be plenty of beer, board games, and free snacks, and attendees can watch the ball drop on a projector. At midnight there will be a special beer release. The party runs from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., and guests are encouraged to wear whatever they want, from “pajamas to party dresses.” Tickets are $10 and include a full pour at the bar.
Goodbye 2017 at Wit’s End
Want to start the new year off with some banter and brain-teasers? Wit’s End, the newest bar in Inman Square, is ready to help you bid adieu to 2017 with games and ’80s music. Plus, on a night when activities can get unbelievably expensive, this event’s free and includes a complimentary champagne toast.
PAGU New Year’s Eve Bash
If a “boatload of Island Creek Oysters” sounds like the perfect way to ring in 2018, PAGU’s New Year’s party is for you. But even if oysters aren’t your thing, don’t worry—this Japanese tapas restaurant is also serving seafood paella, suckling pig, and more. The bash starts at 9 p.m. and tickets are $80.
Shameless New Year’s Eve Eve at OBERON
If you already have New Year’s plans but want to celebrate a little extra—or if venturing out on one of the busiest nights of the year just doesn’t appeal to you—OBERON has you covered with “the most fun, most welcoming dance party in the world” that promises to be “glitter-crusted.” Guests’ attire should fall into at least one of the following categories: creative, black, tie, or glitter. The party gets started at 9 p.m. and tickets range from $15 to $35.
New Year’s Eve Comedy Shows at ImprovBoston
Laughter is arguably the best way to start a new year, and ImprovBoston can help you out. The improv group has not one but six shows on New Year’s Eve. The shows range from the kid-friendly “Family Countdown” at 4 p.m. to the 21+ “Comedy Countdown” and champagne toast that starts at 10 p.m. Tickets range from $10 to $35.
Catalyst New Year’s Eve
If you’re looking for an upscale dance party, Catalyst is the way to go. This event calls for “festive cocktail attire” and offers a raw seafood bar and beef sirloin, plus a full bar and a champagne toast. The $135 ticket includes dinner and dessert buffets and the champagne toast. The party starts at 8 p.m.
