November/December 2016

In our 2016 Local Gift Guide issue, we’ve rounded up nearly 100 of the best buys in Cambridge for just about everyone on your list. We asked “Mom Knows Best” columnist Kat Rutkin to make a special guide just for families, and we also caught up with the incredible mom behind the Cambridge-based company Summer LuLu, whose baby-friendly chewelry makes a great gift for new parents. Plus, one of our writers helps you spice up your holiday party with recipes for homemade sourdough and other snacks you can ferment at home. (Don’t worry—we also round up Cambridge shops where you can get help you if you mess up.)

If you’d rather not think about holiday shopping just yet, that’s cool too! We spent an evening shooting photos and reminiscing at Lanes & Games, everyone’s favorite old-school North Cambridge bowling alley, before it’s demolished to make way for condos. We grabbed plastic instruments and took to the streets with School of HONK, which meets for a weekly street parade throughout the city, and we also took a look at what’s going to happen to the World’s Only Curious George Store (and Harvard Square as a whole).

Prefer print? Yeah, us too. You can find Scout Cambridge at more than 250 locations throughout the city (and slightly beyond its borders). Checkout a map of our pickup spots or sign up for home delivery, and learn how your business or organization can carry Scout here.
