Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble

This annual tradition has already kicked off, but you can still catch the competition for a few more nights. On Friday, Nate Leavitt Band, The Dirty Looks, Murcielago and Zip-Tie Handcuffs will comepete in the fifth preliminary night. On Saturday, you can catch New City Ghost, Yale, Massachusetts, Soft Pyramids and The Warning Shots. The semifinals begin next week, and the ultimate winner will be decided on May 1.

Dopapod blends funk, soul and jazz to percolate that sweet, sweet taste of prog rock. They’ll be playing The Sinclair all weekend, so you have three chances to get funky.

Friday and Saturday

Viewpoints
8 p.m., $20-$25
The Dance Complex
536 Mass Ave.
These two performances are packing in the genres. You’ll find performance art, rhythm tap and everything from classic to contemporary. The dancers come to us from Bill Evans Dance Company and Clancy Works Dance Company, as well as Dean College Palladino School of Dance.
