Post-punk and pool parties in this week’s Scout Picks.
This Friday and Saturday, National Choreography Month (NACHMO) Boston will showcases the vibrant creativity of our dance community. A total of 25 emerging and established choreographers will be presenting new work across two evening performances.
Part of the eighth annual Burlesque Expo this weekend, the pool party is a chance to break out the bikini a couple months early, relaxing to the max with some of the biggest stars in striptease. A performance by the Wave Riders, beach-themed snacks, all make this the party of the summer … in February.
In their first hometown performance in over a year–and, as mentioned above, the only one slated for a while–Mission of Burma will be joined onstage at the Arlington Theater by Minibeast (featuring Mission’s Peter Prescott), and Quincy’s Bugs and Rats. Tickets range from $22 to $27 (which includes a maintenance fee), and even though it’s an all-ages show, beer and wine will be available with ID.
Funds raised will go towards Somerville Local First’s mission to help local and independent business in the city. For more info about SLF and the event itself, check out our event page.
