Scout’s Cinco De Mayo Cooking Class Tuesday at 5 p.m.

After what feels like eighteen billion months of winter, spring has arrived and just in time to celebrate the true start of the season, Cinco de Mayo. While we would typically suggest pulling up a nice piece of patio to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, this year is different. Obviously. Unfortunately. So we’re teaming up with our friends at Cambridge School of Culinary Art and The Boston Shaker for a little DIY celebration of the Mexican Army’s victory at the Battle of Puebla. 

The Boston Shaker will start things off with a quick tutorial on making the perfect margarita. It’s simpler than you think and a necessary skill for surviving in this post-normal world of ours. Then CSCA joins us to prepare a feast fit for our favorite food holiday. Learn to make carne asada and Mexican churros with some of the city’s best cooking educators. These are low-key, low pressure Zoom get-togethers so don’t worry about anything more than learning, enjoying and celebrating with your (socially distant) community.

Scout will post the Zoom info ten minutes before class on our website. If you want to cook along with CSCA, we have posted the ingredients below. And if you want to just watch and take a shot every time you miss Anna’s Taqueria — or Felipe’s, Tenoch, The Painted Burro — go ahead and take that shot. We’ll be passing the digital hat and taking donations for our teachers, so please give what you can, if you can. If you can’t, we totally understand, but come hang out anyway.
